AROMA MASSAGE

AROMA MASSAGE

– An Ancient Science –

Aroma Massage is the use of essential oils to promote healing plus a feeling of well-being and relaxation in the recipient. Essential oils are extracted from herbs and plants and contain all the properties of the herbs and plants themselves. There are several ways of applying the oils, including adding the oils to your bath, or inhaling them, but the most popular and effective method is through massage.

Incorporating essential oils into your massage can be very beneficial. There are many things they can do for our appearance and health.

Using essential oils for pain and inflammation is one of the main uses for these potent fragrant oils, however different essential oils may also help with conditions such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, menstrual pain plus many more.

After extensive research and preparation, we have all of the essential oils and carrier oils which form the perfect recipes for Remedial, Sports, Deep Tissue & Relaxation massages.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are essential oils?

An essential oil is typically obtained by distillation and having the characteristic odour of the plant or other source from which it is extracted. For each oil, it is deemed to obtain healing properties which can benefit to your wellbeing and/or lifestyle, depending on the oil itself. For any essential oil to be of benefit, it will be purely the oil itself, not concentrated with any other synthetic or fragranted oils. A pure essential oil is GCMS tested to ensure the quality of the oil from any reputable whole

  • How are essential oils used in a massage?

Our essential oil blends are diluted with Fractionated Coconut oil, making it safe to apply to the skin without causing any irritation. However, to be safe we will always check with you first, and with your consent encourage you to apply a small amount onto your arm to ensure you do not have a reaction.

The essential oil blend is used as it would if it were purely a carrier oil (ie Coconut oil) on it’s own, thus being used throughout the duration of your massage, making it easier for the therapist to use any massage gliding techniques etc.

  • What are the benefits of massage with essential oils?

Some of the health benefits may include the ability to reduce anxiety, ease depression, boost energy levels, speed up the healing process, eliminate headaches, boost cognitive performance, induce sleep, strengthen the immune system, reduce pain, improve digestion and increase circulation. It is important to understand the basic use of essential oils and how it can help in particular instances. For our Aroma Massage therapy we have carried out extensive research and have a clear understanding on the safety and use of essential oils which we select to utilise in your massage treatment.

  • Can essential oils be applied directly to the skin?

Applying essential oils directly to the skin is not generally recommended. Essential oils when undiluted are highly concentrated and can burn your skin, causing irritation and some oils will even pass through the skin and into the bloodstream. It is suggested that you mix (dilute) them with a base or carrier oil which decreases the possibility of skin irritation.

  • Can I use essential oils when pregnant?

It is safe, however it’s also important to be weary all essential oils aren’t safe when pregnant – this also applies to infants and others depending on their age &/or health. We recommend avoiding the use of essential oils during the first trimester of pregnancy and then light use (no more than 1% dilution) through term. Oils such as geranium, ginger, frankincense, lavender, peppermint, orange, and ylang ylang are considered safe oils to use during pregnancy.
