The MyoFix herbal foot soak uses specially formulated herbs, including mugwort, to deliver an effective therapy to enhance circulation and improve and support deep sleep. Foot reflexology massage is an ancient therapy that uses pressure applied to specific zones of the feet and legs, which are believed to be networked to certain organs and parts of our bodies. Foot reflexology massage comes about from the ancient Chinese belief in qi or “internal electro energy.” According to this belief, qi flows through each person. When a person feels stressed (stress can be due to many reasons, such as the environment, food, sleep, etc.), it affects the flow of qi in the body, which creates an instability in the way our body interacts and functions effectively, thus resulting in illness, pain, degeneration, and deterioration of the body. MyoFix’s foot reflexology massage therapy focus is to stimulate the flow of qi in the body and maintain it at a balanced, healthy level.

MyoFix Herbal Warm Foot Soak Therapy

InIn modern society, if you sit at the desk for a long time or stand for a whole day at work, it is easy to cause poor circulation around your lower limbs. As a result, many people often feel cold feet or even swelling. These symptoms of poor circulation of the lower limbs will cause the overall circulation of the body to be impeded over time, hence causing backaches and even cervical spondylosis. Warm foot soak therapy is a very effective way to care for this circulation problem. When your feet are cold, blood circulation will slow down. Soaking your feet with warm water can promote blood circulation, improve cardiovascular function, and relieve fatigue.

The feet are the farthest place from the human body to the heart. In addition to gravity making it difficult for blood to return to the heart, it must also support the weight of the body. Therefore, venous return disorders often occur, and varicose veins always occur in the lower limbs and rarely in the upper limbs. Soaking feet in warm water can relieve soreness of the lower limbs, make the body relaxed, and even help those with insomnia to get better sleep.

Modern medicine believes that the foot is the “second heart” of the human body. There are countless nerve endings on the foot that are closely connected with the brain, which are closely related to human health. Soaking the feet can reduce the excitability of the brain, have an inhibitory effect on the cerebral cortex, soothe mood, calm the mind, improve sleep quality, and promote deep sleep. In addition, there are 6 meridians on the feet that communicate with our spleen, stomach, liver, gallbladder, bladder, and kidney. Soaking your feet in warm water will help clear these 6 meridians and promote blood circulation throughout the body, relax the body, and improve the body’s self-immunity ability.

Foot Care FAQ

  • How does my MyoFix therapist choose the herbs?

Our highly trained therapists will specially formulate a blend of herbs, including mugwort, that is best suited for your body’s current needs after a brief assessment. We recommend discussing any current health concerns to get the most out of your treatment.

  • What temperature will your MyoFix therapist prepare the ‘herbal foot spa'?

Your therapist will prepare and adjust the water temperature of your herbal foot spa to ensure you are most comfortable. The water temperature of the foot bath should not be too hot or too cold, and it is generally appropriate to maintain it at 38–43 degrees Celsius. If possible, you can put your feet in the water at about 38 degrees first, then let the bath water gradually heat up to about 42°C to maintain that water temperature. Everyone has a different level of tolerance to cold and heat. When putting both feet in at first, it obviously feels hot and may take a few minutes to slowly adapt. It is recommended to choose a water temperature of about 40 degrees C. In summer, it can be slightly higher than winter, around 45 degrees C. Therefore, it is best to keep the temperature of the water between 40 and 45 degrees during the soaking process.

  • The length of time for the ‘herbal foot spa’?

Generally appropriate to soak your feet for 15 to 30 minutes each time, this should be enough to induce a mild sweat. Stop soaking your feet if you start sweating profusely. The length of time you soak your feet will be decided according to your medical and physical condition. Blindly soaking in hot water for a long time is not good for your health. Many people soak their feet in very hot water till the water becomes completely cold, and some even keep adding hot water for an hour or two. These both are the wrong approach and may cause more harm than good. For the best outcome, the length of time to soak your feet should be approximately half an hour. The elderly are especially reminded that the time should be shorter. Also, the level of water is very important and will be considered in accordance with the purpose of soaking your feet.

  • How often is the MyoFix herbal foot spa recommended?
    • Feet can be soaked 2-3 times a week for general health care. For a more specified treatment course, once or even twice a day may be beneficial. A note of caution about the herbal foot spa:
    • You should not soak your feet on an empty stomach or within half an hour after a meal.
    • It is not advisable to soak your feet when there is trauma, swelling, and ulceration of the foot.
    • Women should not soak their feet during menstruation (except for those experiencing mild flow).
    • If children are not in good health, they should not soak their feet frequently. Speak with your MyoFix therapist to discuss any concerns.
    • Patients with various cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and those with varicose veins or diabetes should be careful while engaging in the foot soaking process.
    • If symptoms such as dizziness and chest tightness occur during the foot bathing process, immediately stop and notify your therapist.
  • What is a steam hot compress eye mask?

The hot compress eye mask uses advanced self-heating temperature control technology and allows the moisture and metal powder in the air to form a heating element inside the eye mask. This process generates subtle and moist water vapour that cannot be seen by the naked eye at a continuous constant temperature of 40 degrees for 25 minutes. It is safe, hygienic, and helps to relax the eye-surrounding muscles to relieve eye fatigue.

  • What are the precautions for using a herbal eye pad?
    • The iPad will heat up immediately after opening the eye mask.
    • People who wear contact lenses should take off their glasses before using this product.
    • If you feel excessive temperature or eye discomfort during use, please stop using it immediately.
    • Patients with eye diseases should act under the guidance of a doctor.
    • Do not place it in direct sunlight or high temperatures.
    • It is not suitable for children.
  • How does the eye pad produce heat?

After opening the packaging bag, the ferment in the air touches the heating element, and the iron powder in the heating element begins to ferment and generate heat. The moisture contained in the heating element evaporates this heat, and then a comfortable steam is produced.

Foot Care & Remedial FAQ

  • What are the benefits of remedial massage?

A remedial massage can provide a number of benefits, which can include but are not limited to:

    • Relieving aches and pains
    • Stimulate blood flow & improve circulation
    • Increasing flexibility and joint mobility
    • Reducing anxiety and depression
    • Reduce stress and more

If it is your first visit, you will be requested to arrive 10 minutes early to fill out a Client Intake Form. This allows the massage therapist to be aware of any health concerns you may have.

  • Is remedial massage painful?

While remedial massage can be a relaxing experience, it is dependent upon the pressure you can tolerate as to what sensation your body will experience. Remedial massage is a highly skilled technique where the massage therapist can locate the problem area that is causing the pain and discomfort. It is very important to communicate to the therapist when things hurt and if any soreness or pain you experience is outside of your comfort range. There is usually some stiffness or tenderness after a remedial massage, but it should subside within a day or so.

  • How does remedial massage work?

Remedial massage works on localised areas of your body to break down muscle spasms (knots) and soften up the hard tissue to release any stiffness. Regular massage is an effective treatment to bring back muscle strength and tone. Remedial massage helps to relax the muscles, making musculoskeletal adjustment easier.

  • What is the difference between physiotherapy and remedial massage?

Physiotherapy is the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions that result in pain, restricted movement, weakness, and altered mobility caused by degeneration, illness, or accident. Physiotherapists are qualified to use electrotherapy such as TENS and ultrasound. Traction, manipulation, and mobilisation of jaw/limb and vertebral joints are also utilised.

Remedial massage therapy is a hands-on treatment to soften tissue and restore function, relieve pain, promote healing, and decrease muscle spasms and/or tension to improve physical or athletic performance. Remedial massage stimulates circulation and improves blood flow to the localised area. Both physiotherapists and remedial massage therapists are able to prescribe strengthening exercises, stretches, balance exercises, and postural training.

  • Can you exercise after a remedial massage?

Many massage therapists recommend clients avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours after a bodywork session.

Strenuous exercise includes activities such as running, high-intensity aerobics, weight lifting, or power yoga classes.

  • What is a remedial massage therapist?

A remedial massage therapist has completed extensive studies and has detailed knowledge of the muscular system, the function of the body, and the most common conditions and treatments for said conditions.

  • Can I claim any health rebates from my remedial massage?

If you have a private health fund, such as HBF, then you may be eligible to claim money back for your remedial massage. Please be aware that at MyoFix you can only claim for remedial massage for health funds where our massage therapists have an approved provider number for you to claim against.

Health Fund rebates are available for remedial massage at MyoFix Massage through a number of health funds, including HBF. Depending on the level of your health coverage, you may be eligible to claim money back. We have a HealthPoint machine (similar to HI-CAPS) available so you can claim on-the-spot, allowing you to only bear the cost of the GAP payment. Please be mindful HealthPoint does not recognise all health fund providers; thus, it may be necessary for us to generate an invoice for you in which you can manually claim through your healthcare provider at a later time. We can provide your invoice either via email or print you a hard copy.

Please Note

If the therapist feels that the session has turned sexual for the client, male or female, he/she may stop the session to clarify the client’s intent and may decide to end the session immediately.
